Exactly 140 years ago on 14 February 1876, Alexander Graham Bell (March 3, 1847 – August 2, 1922) scottish-born scientist, inventor awarded the first U.S. patent for the telephone. He taught deaf children, and his mother and his wife were also deaf. He was one of the 33 founders and the second president of National Geographic Society.

He was born on 4 July 1795. He mapped India and the highest peak of the highest mountain in the world, the Chomolungma. His name was Everest. We cannot know, whether he saw the peak which is named by his name, the Mount Everest, himself (with him eyes), but his mainful work made him worth for this respect.

200 years ago, 14 November 1815 was born Joseph Soul, who fought the abolition of slavery in London and operated orphanage supporting it and rescuing lot of children. By 1859, the Orphan Working School was home to 250 children and since its inception it had acted in loco parentis for 1,889 children.

Ezt a tudományt Jeet Kun Do névre keresztelte. Könyvét csak ajánlani tudom (Bruce Lee és a Jeet Kun Do címmel).

Nicolas Desmarest (200)

200 years ago, on 20 September 1815 died Nicolas Desmarest french geologist, who had studied the structure of volcanoes and wrote essays of its operations. He utilized his journeys (traveled a lot on foot), so expanded his knowledge of the Earth's structure. He wrote articles about the geological-physical into Diderot's enlightened encyclopedia.

He lived exactly 90 years, cause was born 16 September 1725 (290 years ago).

Alexander Graf Keyserling (Alexander Friedrich Michael Lebrecht Nicolaus Arthur Graf Keyserling) was a Baltic-German scientist: geologist, paleontologist, botanist and zoologist. He was one of the founders of Russian geology and made many expeditions. His personal friend was Tsar Nicolas I. He wrote the Vertebrates of Europe with Johann Heinrich Blasius. He was born on 15 August 1815, 200 years ago.
